Autor

Elena Poniatowska nació en París en 1932. Hija del príncipe Jean Evremont Poniatowski Sperry y de Paula Amor de Ferreira Iturbe, es heredera del título de princesa de Polonia por ser descendiente del rey Estanislao II, último monarca del país. En 1941 llegó a México con su madre huyendo de la segunda guerra mundial. Entre los numerosos premios recibidos, destacan el Mazatlán de Literatura (1971); el Nacional de Periodismo de México (1978); el Alfaguara de Novela con la novela La piel del cielo (2001); el Rómulo Gallegos con El tren pasa primero, que tiene como protagonista a un líder sindical ferroviario (2007) y el Biblioteca Breve por su obra Leonora, sobre la vida de la pintora Leonora Carrington (2011). En 2013 ha sido galardonada con el Premio Cervantes.
