You can't do without clocks. In the story "My Father's Watches", one in particular was so annoying that the author found it hard to bear. He could not part with it. It still reliably tells him the time. In the poem "The Situation of the Situation", the author and her cat ask themselves whether the situation is hopeless or simply confused.
