Immanuel Kant

Immanuel Kant (1724-1804): Pasa por ser una de las cumbres de la filosofía occidental. Nacido en Königsberg, en aquel momento parte de la Prusia oriental, permaneció en su ciudad hasta su muerte sin otra excepción que la de un período en que se vio obligado a trabajar como preceptor en los alrededores de la misma. De 1732 a 1740 fue alumno en el Collegium Fredericianum, cuyo ambiente pietista reforzó las tendencias que su madre le había inculcado. Cursó estudios en la Universidad de Königsberg, donde posteriormente trabajó como Privat-Dozent desde 1755 hasta que en 1770, con 46 años, se le otorgara una plaza de profesor titular. Entre sus obras se encuentran algunas de las más importantes de la historia de la filosofía como la Crítica de la razón pura (1781), la Crítica de la razón práctica (1788) o la Crítica del Juicio (1790) además de un sinfín de escritos todos ellos de extraordinario influjo para la posterior historia de la filosofía occidental.
