Bajo la premisa de que la construcción histórica es siempre subjetiva, este libro reconstruye y cuestiona la historia convencional de la disciplina de las Relaciones Internacionales, signada por una única perspectiva: la del Norte global, y especí camente la de Estados Unidos. Con ese fin documenta una serie de hitos que han sido excluidos del relato y pone la lupa sobre formas de violencia que se encuentran en el origen de la disciplina pero han sido ignoradas por ella: el imperialismo y el racismo. El propósito es arrojar luz sobre el papel de la periferia en la historia y el desarrollo disciplinar de las Relaciones Internacionales, ahondando en el silenciamiento del Sur global, que se manifiesta tanto en el ámbito práctico como en el académico. El autor recurre al dialogismo de Mijaíl Bajtín para dar voz a quienes no la han tenido, explorar nuevas narrativas y desmontar las prácticas académicas que han legitimado durante décadas formas de dominación. Under the premise that historical construction is always subjective, this book reconstructs and questions the conventional history of the discipline of International Relations, marked by a single perspective: that of the global North, and specifically that of the United States. To this end, it documents a series of milestones that have been excluded from the narrative and puts the spotlight on forms of violence that are at the origin of the discipline but have been ignored by it: imperialism and racism. The purpose is to shed light on the role of the periphery in the history and disciplinary development of International Relations, delving into the silencing of the global South, which manifests itself in both the practical and academic spheres. The author turns to Mikhail Bakhtin’s dialogism to give voice to those who have not had one, explore new narratives and dismantle the academic practices that have legitimized forms of domination for decades.
