The volume presents the life and "adventures" of a family, specifically the eldest brother, László, based on his own diary entries from that period. Reading the book gives us a picture of everyday life during that historical period—the building of socialism—as well as the worldview of young people at the time, their situation in various circles, their opportunities, and their relationships. A strange feeling comes over you as you read, imagining sitting in one of the iconic restaurants in Szeged (some of which may no longer exist) where, for 35-40 forints, you could fill yourself up with a nutritious, tasty cooked meal, perhaps picturing the vividly described college environment. The book invites the reader on a real journey through time, starting in Győr, through the teenage years of a high school student, through compulsory military service, all the way to the end of university in Szeged.
