Cody is desperately trying to escape his nightmare homelife. Michael is a doctor from extraordinary wealth. What they have in common is being shunned and abused by their families for being gay. Through completely different circumstances, they both arrive in the same, rural Georgia town and, when they meet, the attraction between them is instant and strong. Together they face bigotry, homophobia, and hate. As attacks on them intensify, Michael and Cody rely more heavily on each other. Each new assault serves only to strengthen and deepen their relationship.  In this storm of violence, they confront their families and refuse to back down, only to be rejected again.
