Complete and unabridged, with 100 full-page plates by William Orpen, Spencer Gore and Jules Dupré. One day in Dublin, 16 June 1904: an advertising canvasser buys a kidney for breakfast, goes to a funeral, argues in a newspaper office, watches a girl on the strand, drinks in a maternity hospital and brings a drunk poet home. Joyce set every scene against an episode of the Odyssey and worked seven years on it in Trieste, Zurich and Paris. A Paris bookshop published it in 1922, and customs officers seized and burned the copies sent abroad. A hundred plates by painters including Spencer Gore and Stanhope Forbes, from 1826 to 1927, gather the parks, streets and portraits of the world Joyce's Dubliners move through.

James Joyce

James Joyce

Autor
