Under Other Skies gathers five Christmas stories kept far from home. Two British traders try to give their rivals an English Christmas on a Pacific lagoon (Louis Becke). A Paris architect remembers the siege winter and the last tree in his house (Max Nordau). A lame boy walks home through the dark on the Nochebuena (José Rizal). A woolly dog called Satan runs off with the wrong crowd (John Fox, Jr.). A Virginia conductor turns a stalled train into a feast (Thomas Nelson Page). Funny, tender and sometimes hard, with an introduction and notes by the editors. A gift edition, illustrated throughout with original paintings made for this edition and set with ornamental chapter openings.
